I began creating monochromes in 1947. For me they were a rejection of the idea of representation in painting and therefore a way of achieving creative freedom.

The creation of anthropometry is staged as elaborate performances for the audience, accompanied by blue cocktails and the performance of a monotonous symphony-one note is played for twenty minutes, followed by twenty minutes of silence.

Monogold

I wish to play with human feeling, with its

'morbidity' in a cold and ferocious manner. Only very recently I have become a sort of gravedigger of art (oddly enough, I am using the very terms of my enemies). Some of my latest works have been coffins and tombs.

I create my gold monochromes from gold leaf. This material is a symbol of spirituality that every culture understands.

Painting with Fire

Fire painting is an imprint of fire. I use reinforced cardboard, which burns more slowly than usual. In addition, I try to combine the actions of water and fire so that the flame print also includes traces of water.

Cosmogonies

I made the first Cosmogony in 1960. The canvas, covered with blue paint, was fixed on the roof of the car during the trip from Paris to Cagnes-sur-Mer, and was exposed to wind, rain and dust.
